Intermediate Minesweeper uses a 16 by 16 board with 40 mines. It is the balanced ClassicWorks mode: large enough for real pattern recognition, but compact enough to solve without the full Expert workload.

How the board tends to play

Intermediate games usually require several waves of deduction. You will often move between separate edges of the board, using each new flag or safe reveal to unlock the next small region.

Intermediate strategy tips

• Look for 1-1, 1-2, and 1-2-1 shapes along the edge of revealed areas.
• Avoid premature chording; one uncertain flag can turn a balanced board into a forced loss.
• Use the mine counter as a check near the end, especially when only a few hidden cells remain.

Numbered Intermediate games

Intermediate numbered games are strong shared challenges because the board size rewards both accuracy and pace without requiring Expert-level endurance. Use the same game number to compare attempts, or open the Community Records page to check the current best time for a numbered challenge.
