Find answers for starting a game, controls, numbered challenges, local statistics, community records, and display problems.

Starting or changing a game

Select Game in the top bar to open the game list. Inside Minesweeper, use the Random or Numbered selector to change the game type. Changing difficulty or starting another game replaces the current board.

Sharing a game

The Share button copies a link containing the current game type, displayed seed or number, and difficulty. A numbered-game link gives every player the same deterministic opening and board. A random-game link uses the same random seed, but its final layout also depends on the first cell revealed.

Mouse, touch, or keyboard controls are not responding

Check whether Reveal or Flag is selected in the game toolbar. Keyboard focus must be on a board cell before the arrow keys, Enter, Space, or F can act on it. On desktop, right-click toggles a flag regardless of the selected input mode.

The board does not fit

ClassicWorks calculates one responsive tile size from the Expert board and uses it for every difficulty. If the board is clipped, reset browser zoom to 100%, reload the page, and check whether browser side panels are reducing the available width. Include a screenshot and viewport size when reporting a persistent layout problem.

Statistics or preferences were reset

Personal statistics and preferences are stored in browser local storage. They can disappear when site data is cleared, private browsing ends, storage is blocked, or a different browser or device is used. ClassicWorks cannot restore local data from the server.

A community record is unavailable

Community-best times require the Cloudflare record API. A temporary network or database problem may show the record as unavailable without preventing normal play. Finishing a numbered game while the service is unavailable may mean that completion is not submitted.
